HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL FESTIVAL:

DUE TO TREMENDOUS EARLY INTEREST IN THE HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL FESTIVALS, WE ARE ADDING A FOURTH SITE AS FOLLOWS:

All Senior High School choral ensembles are invited to participate in the 2009 Region I Choral Festival. This is an adjudicated festival, not a competition, which provides an opportunity for performances to be critiqued by guest music educators. There will be a Junior High School festival on May 5, 2010 for any Junior High Schools or Middle Schools who would like to participate in a festival.

Region I is sponsoring three HS festival days in three different locations. You may choose the day and festival site which is most convenient for you, BUT act quickly because reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Even if your application is received by the deadline of November 10, 2009 there is no guarantee that there will be room for your group as seating is limited in each school.

The performance time for each group is a maximum of 15 minutes.

You may bring more than one group to a festival but each group must pay a separate participation fee. Schools are limited to no more than two performing groups.

Each participating school should arrive by 9:00A.M. and remain for the entire festival so that each group will have an audience for their performance. No group will be scheduled after 12:00P.M. in order to facilitate school buses needing to return to their school for afternoon runs.

Lunch facilities are usually not provided by the host school. Please check with the choral director of the host school for information about lunch.

The fee is $125.00 per group. Be sure to fill out a separate form for each performing group. Make checks payable to NJSMA .

The deadline for applications is Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
